Repairs and Maintenance of Damaged and Dangerous Grass Verges on Chequers Drive
Reported via mobile in the Damage to the grass verge category anonymously at 20:14, Tuesday 4 February 2025
Sent to Surrey County Council less than a minute later.
The grass verges on Chequers Drive have deteriorated due to narrow road width and on-street parking. Vehicles, including council lorries and emergency services, frequently drive over or park on them, leaving muddy, worn-out patches. In some areas, heavy vehicles have pushed mud onto pathways, creating hazards for pedestrians.
Previously, a damaged verge was resurfaced with tarmac, improving both appearance and usability. Similar solutions could include:
• Tarmacking damaged verges for parking and durability. • Installing bollards to prevent vehicle damage. • Reinforcing verges with grass mats. • Repairing with soil and seed.
Addressing this issue would improve safety and aesthetics. Consideration of these options is requested.
