Unsuitable diversion

Reported via mobile in the Surrey County Council roadworks category anonymously at 17:08, Wednesday 15 January 2025

Sent to Surrey County Council less than a minute later.

The issue is regarding the road closure on Antlands Lane / B2037 and the diversion along Peeks Brook Lane and Fernhill. The road is not fit for purpose for such a large scale diversion. The road is riddled with deep potholes and is not wide enough for two vehicles along many stretches and has very limited lighting after dark. As HGV vehicles use this frequently it causes chaos during busy times. Twice now I have seen vehicles who have toppled into the deep ditch on the side of the road. I have seen plenty of near misses too. I drive my children to nursery and swimming down this route and I am genuinely frightened for our safety every time I drive down here. Iread an update on the works and it seemed to suggest this closure has no current end date due to the complex nature of the works. I don't really find this acceptable considering the state of the diversion. I don't know what the solution is but something needs to be done before we have any more accidents.
