Sherborne Walk shrub blocking sightlines

Reported via desktop in the Overgrown hedge blocking views into traffic category anonymously at 10:52, Sun 10 November 2024

Sent to Surrey County Council less than a minute later.

A shrub growing around the base of a tree has become so overgrown that sightlines for cars entering or leaving the north-western section of Sherborne Walk are compromised. This is one of those issues that develop over a long period.

  • The shrub is, I believe, a common dogwood that may originally have been plated as a low-growing decorative shrub.

  • Dogwood should, ideally, be pruned every year to maintain the colour in the stems.

  • There is also a thick growth of holly on the footpath side which should probably be removed completely.

  • We have inspected this location and will be raising a task to carry out maintenance here. We do not provide an exact date as we are managing a resource and significant volume of work on a countywide basis.
