Pedestrian controlled crossing not working

Reported via desktop in the Poor operation or delays category anonymously at 09:21, Wednesday 23 October 2024

Sent to Surrey County Council less than a minute later.

This crossing facility has been problematic for some months. On 22 October 2024 at 6.15pm every time I pressed the button to cross it kept switching off again and so the lights did not come on to stop traffic. Very dangerous situation - elderly pedestrian in dark clothing and with mobility issues trying to cross the road in near darkness. Crossing from North to South hazardous as unable to see traffic coming from the Brighton Road direction. Standing there for a considerable time and putting self at risk trying to cross.
