Large ash with dieback

Reported via mobile in the Diseased or dead tree category anonymously at 11:05, Monday 30 September 2024

Sent to Surrey County Council less than a minute later.

Large ash tree very close to railway bridge and busy section of road overhanging a public footpath. Is suffering from dieback. And is almost completely covered in ivy which is not going to be helping the health of the tree. It’s very obvious next to a bus stop/layby

As a regular user of the footpath, which is a popular route for commuters, children walking to school, or to the leisure centre I think it poses a significant risk as the branches are very large, and could drop. Additionally, this is a busy road connecting shottermill and weyhill and a branch dropping on to the road would cause significant disruption. Lastly as the tree is in close proximity to the railway if it fell entirely it could cause a disaster.
