Concerns about speeding traffic on corner of Ember Lane

Reported via mobile in the Concern about speeding traffic category anonymously at 23:28, Thursday 26 September 2024

Sent to Surrey County Council less than a minute later.

We and a large number of Ember Lane residents are severely concerned about speeding traffic on the corner of Ember Lane, near 96/98 Ember Lane. For the second time in four months, we have had someone drive into the front of our property (94), with both drivers citing speed and a tricky corner as factors in causing them to lose control of their vehicles resulting in written-off vehicles, shaken individuals, and significant sums of damaged property. We spoke with the previous owners of our property at 94 Ember Lane, and they had 3 incidents too.

It’s extremely concerning as the road is popular for children walking to school as raised by a number of residents. We also have two young children of our own whose safety we fully fear, including putting them into our car or them being on our driveway - a fear we should not have to live with.

We and a vast number of other residents share the same concerns and are worried that it might take a fatality for something more purposeful to be done.

Having spoken with other residents, we would suggest the installation of speed bumps, or a camera on the corners of Ember Lane such that drivers are forced to reduce speed below 20mph - a speed which is appropriate to take those corner at.
