Pedestrian Crossing or traffic sign

Reported via desktop in the Road safety improvement category anonymously at 12:56, Thursday 26 September 2024

Sent to Surrey County Council less than a minute later.

Since the Connect Bus Service, which used to bring residents & visitors directly onto the premises of our Nursing Home, has recently been discontinued, our Residents and their elderly relatives and visitors have to use the public bus service. This means that they have to cross the very busy Guildford Road outside the Nursing Home. There is no pavement which they can use to walk down to the pedestrian crossing further down the road so that is not an option either. We desperately need a pedestrian crossing by the bus stop to ensure the safety of our elderly and very frail residents and their equally elderly and frail relatives who come to visit them. In addition to cars driviing very fast along this road, the bus stop is also on the brow of the hill coming out of Westcott, enhancing the danger of pedestrians crossing the road very slow being hit by cars even further. If you absolutely refuse to provide a pedestrian crossing, can you please consider at least providing the appropriate traffic sign, warning cars that elderly, frail and disable people can be crossing the road.
